Drug seizure and arrest in Clondalkin, Dublin on the 16/2/16

Gardaí have seized large quantities of heroin and cocaine during a planned operation targeting drug trafficking activities involving west Dublin based organised criminal groups.

The drugs were recovered when Gardaí from Ronanstown Drugs Unit supported by the Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau carried out a search at a house in Clondalkin yesterday evening (16/2/2016). During the search Gardaí discovered 3kg of heroin and 1kg of cocaine with a combined estimated street value of €500,000 (analysis confirmed). Other material including what is believed to be mixing agent (analysis pending) was also seized during the operation.

A 24-year-old male was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Ronanstown Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

The investigation is ongoing and further updates will follow.

These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
