Man Arrested following armed robbery at Barrack Street, Waterford on the 20/12/16

Gardaí have arrested a man following an armed robbery at a Post Office, Barrack St., Waterford, which occurred on 20th December 2016.

The robbery had occurred at approximately 3.15pm when 2 masked man entered the premises with what appeared to be a firearm. They threatened staff and a member of the public but fled the scene empty handed.

The man, in his mid 30's, was arrested at approximately 11pm on the 20th December 2016 in the Ardkeen area following a surveillance operation. He is currently detained at Waterford Station at Section 30 Offences against the State Act, 1939. 

A car, which is believed to be connected to the incident, has been seized. Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have further information in relation to this incident to contact Gardaí at Waterford Garda Station on 051-305316, or Garda Confidential Line 1800-666-111.
