Court appearance - Firearms seizure in Cabra, Dublin on the 5/11/16

The male in his 30’s who had been detained at Finglas Garda Station is scheduled to appear before Court number 1, The Criminal Courts of Justice at 10.30am this morning charged in connection with this seizure.

Gardai attached to the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and Special Crime Task Force have arrested a male in his 30's in connected with the seizure of 5 firearms and assorted ammunition which was made at Quarry Road, Cabra, Dublin 7 on the of 5th November 2016. 

The male was arrested in the Cabra area this morning and is currently detained under Section 30 of  the Offences Against the State Act at Finglas Garda Station.

Gardai have seized 5 firearms following a planned operation yesterday (5/11/16) evening in the Cabra area.

Gardai attached to The Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau and the Garda Special Crime Task Force seized 2 sub-machine guns, 3 hand guns, 2 silencer and a quantity of ammunition as part of a planned operation where a car was searched.

There were no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.

Photo Opportunity.

Gardai will provide a photo opportunity at 5pm this evening (06/11/16) at the offices of The Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau in Dublin Castle. The photo opportunity will consist of firearms seized yesterday in Cabra.

In addition Detective Superintendent Tony Howard will provide a brief comment in relation to the seizures.
