Body recovered in the Grand Canal, Dublin on the 18/12/16

Gardaí carrying out a search for a missing man have discovered a body in the Grand canal close Harcourt Terrace on Sunday, the 18th December 2016.

The search of the canal was carried out by Garda Water Unit who located the body of the man at about 12.30pm. The area is sealed off pending a technical examination.  

The man has not been positively identified and it is believed he died as a result of drowning.  His body has been removed to the City Morgue where a post mortem examination will take place tomorrow.
