Arrests - firearms and ammunition seized in Cobh, Cork on the 14/12/16

As part of on-going investigations into dissident republican activity in the Cork area, Gardaí have arrested three men, aged in their mid 30's to early 50's, following the planned search of a premises at Chesnut Drive, Cluain Ard, Cobh, Co Cork yesterday evening, Thursday 14th December 2016 shortly before 8pm.

The three men are detained at Cobh and Midleton Garda Stations under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended. Two firearms and a quantity of ammunition were also discovered and seized by Gardaí during the operation.  

The scene has been preserved for technical examination.
