Arrest - Fatal Assault at Liscarne Gardens, Ronanstown, Dublin on the 1/11/16.

Gardai investigating the murder of Robert Ellis at Liscarne Gardens on the 1st November, 2016 have arrested a male.

The male in his 20’s was arrested this morning. He is currently detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at Lucan Garda Station.

Gardaí at Ronanstown are appealing for witnesses following an assault in which a man in his 20's was fatally injured in the early hours of this morning.


The incident occurred at Liscarne Gardens, at approximately 3.10a.m. this morning, Tuesday 1st November, 2016. It is believed that the deceased man was in the area of a bombfire at St. Marks.  He was chased by a number of people across the Neilstown Road, into Liscarne Gardens where he was fatally injured. There have been no arrests.

The State Pathologist's Office has been contacted. His body remains at the scene.

Gardaí at Ronanstown are appealing for anyone who was in the general area of St. Marks / Neilstowns Road / Liscarne Gardens between 1a.m. and 3.30a.m. to contact them at Ronanstown Garda Station on 01 - 6667700, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

NOTE:

Superintendent Dermot Mann will hold a media briefing and witness appeal at 12 noon today, Tuesday 1st November, 2016 on Neilstown Road. Media are asked to gather at 11.50a.m. in order for the briefing to take place at 12 noon.
