Update - Death of a Man in Cork City on 12/8/20

Gardaí investigating the death of Mr. Gary Dineen, whose body was discovered on August 12 in Cork city, are now satisfied that no foul play took place.

Gardaí wish to thank the public and the media for their assistance in this matter.

A file will now be prepared for the Coroner.

Gardaí investigating the unexplained death of a man in Cork City on August 12, 2020 are appealing for information.
Investigating Gardaí attended the scene at Merchant’s Quay Car Park, on the Parnell Place side, shortly after 11.30am. The scene was preserved and a technical examination was carried out. A post mortem took place this afternoon August 13 at Cork University Hospital, the results of which have been given to Gardaí.

The deceased has now been identified as 35 year old, Gary Dineen who is originally from the north side of Cork city.
Gardaí are asking the following to contact Bridewell Garda Station at 021-4943330, The Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111 or any Garda Station:

• Anyone who was in Mr Dineen’s company from Saturday 8 August.
• Anyone who saw or heard anything suspicious or unusual in Merchant Quay Car Park and its environs from Saturday 8 August to Wednesday 12 August.
• Anyone that availed of the services of the Merchants Quay Shopping centre car park who may have noticed anything, particularly drivers with dash cam footage from Saturday 8 August to Wednesday 12 August.
