Two men to appear before Special Criminal Court on the 16/8/16

Two men, aged 27 and 35 years, are due to appear before a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court, Criminal Courts of Justice this evening, Tuesday 16th August 2016 at 9pm where they will be charged.

The two men were arrested on Sunday night, 14th August 2016 shortly after 11pm in the Leitrim area by local members of An Garda Síochána as part of an operation targeting dissident republican activity in the Sligo/Leitrim area. They were detained at Sligo Garda station under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended. They remain in Garda custody.
