Updated Witness Appeal Shooting Incident Charlestown Shopping Centre

Gardaí at Finglas Garda Station investigating an incident where a firearm was discharged yesterday evening, Friday 8th April 2016 at approximately 6.15p.m. are appealing for witnesses. No one was injured in the incident.

The incident occurred in the car park close to a number of fast food outlets at Charlestown Shopping Centre, Finglas. A man discharged a firearm arm a number of times before fleeing the scene as a passenger in a silver coloured Volkswagen Golf, registration number 02 MH 7775. This car was later located burnt out, at Shancastle Estate, Clondalkin, Dublin 22 and has been removed for technical examination.

The man was wearing a balaclava and is not better described. The driver of the Volkswagen Golf is also believed to be male.

An Incident Room has been established at Finglas Garda Station and a full investigation has commenced.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information particularly those who may have observed the silver Volkswagen Golf prior to its arrival at Charlestown or its discovery later at Shancastle Estate, Clondalkin to contact them at Finglas Garda Station 0n 01 6667500, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111 or any Garda Station
