Suspected Explosive device in a car on the Naas Road on the 13/4/16

As a result of an intelligence led operation conducted by Gardaí attached to Crime and Security section and the Special Detective Unit, a car was stopped by members of the Emergency Response Unit on the Naas Road, inbound just before the Long Mile Road junction, at approximately 7.30pm this evening.

This car is believed to contain explosives (subject to forensic examination). The Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) are currently at the scene examining it contents.

Two males (early 30's and early 40's) have been arrested are currently being detained at Ballyfermot and Ronanstown Garda station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.

The Naas road  is closed in both direction and in both directions on the Long Mile Road at that intersection, motorist are advised to use alternative routes.
