Recovery of Firearm and Explosives Co Leitrim 13/05/15

Gardaí have recovered a firearm (subject to technical examination) and suspected component parts for explosives in Co. Leitrim today.

At approximately 11.45am this morning gardai on traffic enforcement duties stopped a car at Glenfarne on the N16 (Sligo to Blacklion Rd). On searching the vehicle they discovered a pistol (subject to technical examination) and suspected component parts for explosives.
Two males in their 20’s were arrested at the scene and are currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act at Manorhamilton Garda Station.
