Fatal road traffic collision at Longford on the 16th May 2015

Gardai in Granard, Co Longford are investigating a fatal road traffic collision whic occurred on the main Dublin to Longford Road N4 on the 16th May 2015.

The collision between a car and a minibus occurred at Corboy, Edgewardstown at approximately 11.10pm.


The male (36 years) driver of the car was seriously injured in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. His body was taken to the Morgue at Mullingar Hospital. A number of ambulances attended and treated the passengers(14 young passangers and two adult passengers) who were on the bus the scene. The bus driver was taken to Mullingar hospital where his injuries are described as non life threatening.


The road is closed to facilitate a Forensic Collision Examination and diversions are in place.
