Drug seizure and arrest in Dublin on the 17/3/15

Following a surveillance operation carried out by the Drug Unit from Kevin Street Garda Station into the sale and supply of diamorphine (heroin) in the South Central Division,

Gardaí searched a house at Swan Grove in Ranelagh, Dublin 6 yesterday evening 17th March. The operation was supported by Gardaí from the Emergency Response Unit and Terenure Garda Station.

During the course of the search Gardaí discovered 7 blocks of suspected diamorphine weighing half of a kilo each, with estimated street value, subject to analysis, of  €525,000.

A man in his 40's was arrested at the scene and he is detained at Kevin Street Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996. A woman in her 40's was also arrested at the scene and she has since been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
