Drugs seizure in North County Dublin on the 23/6/15

As part of an intelligence lead joint operation involving Revenue’s Customs Service and the Garda Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau, a controlled delivery of prohibited drugs originating in Spain was carried out in North County Dublin on the 23rd June 2015.

Approximately 85 kgs of herbal cannabis, with an estimated value of €1.7 million was seized by Customs. The drugs were concealed in a freight consignment from Spain.

A male, aged 24 years and a female, aged 32 years, were arrested and are currently detained at Finglas Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.

Investigations are continuing.

These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.

There are no photographs of the seized drugs or Garda spokesperson available.
