Victims Named - Fatal road traffic collision at Athy, Kildare on the 6/1/15

Gardaí have named the four victims of last night’s (6/1/15) fatal collision in Athy, Co Kildare:

1                    Aisling Middleton 19yrs, Coney Meadows, Coneyboro, Athy, Co Kildare

2                    Niamh Doyle 19yrs, Mount Leinster Park, Carlow Town

3                    Gemma Nolan 19yrs, Idrone Park, Tullow Road, Carlow Town

4                    Chermaine Carroll 20yrs, Dolmen Heights, Pollerton Carlow.
 

The road at Athy has since reopened following an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí at Athy are investigating a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the N78 Athy Co Kildare at approximately 9.45pm last night (Tuesday January 6th 2015).


A car and a van were in collision at the above location resulting in the deaths of four female passengers in the car (20yrs, 19yrs, 19 yrs & 17 yrs) the 20 year female driver was seriously injured and taken to Naas General Hospital.
 

The male driver and male passenger of the van were also taken to Naas General Hospital.

 
The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.

Gardai in Athy, Co Kildare are investigating a serious road traffic collision in Kildare on the 6th January 2015.

The collision between a car and a van occurred shortly before 10pm at Birdstown, Co Kildare, approx. 3 miles from Junction 3 (M9) heading for Athy N78. A number of people (five females and two males) were seriously injured and have been treated at scene and taken to Naas General hospital.

 
The road is closed and will remain closed until late tomorrow to facilitate a Forensic Collision Examination and diversions are in place.
