Update - Hit and Run Traffic Collision on the R194, Cavan on the 20/1/15

A male aged in his 20s was arrested last night (22/1/2015) by investigating Gardaí and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Cavan Garda Station.

A car has also been seized for a technical examination as part of the investigation.

A 38-year-old male pedestrian seriously injured in the collision is continuing to receive treatment at Beaumont Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing and further updates will issue.

Gardaí are seeking witnesses to a hit and run traffic collision at Magheraboy Upper, Finea, Co Westmeath which occurred at 3.00pm on Tuesday, the 20th January 2015.



A pedestrian was struck by a car which failed to remain at the scene. The man in his late 30's was seriously injured and has been taken to Beaumont Hospital.

The offending vehicle is described as a dark coloured saloon car and had come from the Ballyjamesduff direction. The R194 is closed at the scene of the collision to facilitate a technical examination of the area by Garda forensic collision investigators.
