Serious Assault/ Camden Street Dublin - Update 6th January 2015

Gardaí at Kevin Street in Dublin investigating a serious assault on a man on the 30th November 2014 at Camden St have arrested a male in his late 20's. The man was arrested in the North Dublin area at approximately 6am on Monday 5th Jan 2015.

 He was detained at Kevin St Garda Station under Section 4- Criminal Justice Act, 1984 and later released without charge. A file will now be prepared for the information of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

Gardai in Kevin St are investigating a serious assault on a male(20's) close to the junction of Camden St and Harrington St, Dublin 2 on the 30th Nov 2014.
The incident occurred at approximately 5.05am when one male (early 20's) was assaulted by another male also believed to be in his 20's. The injured male received serious head injuries and the suspect ran in the direction of Wexford Street. The suspect is described as being in his 20's, black hair, dark top and blue jeans.
The injured male was attended at scene by Dublin Fire Brigade and brought to St James's hospital where his condition is described as serious.
The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination.
Gardai are reviewing CCTV footage from the scene and are appealing for witnesses or anyone who may have any information, in particular it is believed a number of people gathered around to help the injured party as he lay on the footpath prior to the arrival of the ambulance to contact them in Kevin St on 01 6669400, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station
