As a result of a coordinated operation between An Garda Síochána and the Police Service of Northern Ireland into the activities of dissident republicans in the border region, a number of searches were carried out in the Dundalk and Newry areas on 16th January 2015.
Gardaí from the Special Detective Unit arrested a man, 24 years, in the Dundalk area. He was detained under Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended at Dundalk Garda Station.
The man is due to appear before a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court, Criminal Courts of Justice, Dublin this afternoon, Sunday 18th January 2015 at 1pm.
