Drugs seizure and arrests in Ballymun, Dublin on the 13/1/15

As part of an ongoing operation into the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the North Dublin area Gardaí from the Ballymun District Drug Unit have seized assorted drugs with an estimated value of €460,000, pending analysis.

On Tuesday, the 13th January 2015 a planned search of two vehicles was carried out in the Finglas area. Cannabis herb, cocaine, ecstasy and prescription drugs were seized.

Further searches of premises were carried out in the Finglas and Blanchardstown areas where a substantial amount of cash was recovered.

Two men, 39 & 33 years, were arrested and are currently detained at Ballymun Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

The operation was carried out by Gardaí attached to various District Units at Ballymun Garda Station with the assistance of the local community.

These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
