Theft and Health warning, Dungannon, Co. Tyrone 22nd August 2015 - Issued on behalf of the Police Service of Northern Ireland

Police in Dungannon are appealing for information following the theft of 16 lambs in the Eglish Road area on the evening of Saturday 22 August. Police received the report of the theft just after 8.30pm.

Chief Inspector Graham Dodds said: "The farmer who owned these lambs has informed us that they would not be ready to enter the food chain for the next 6 weeks and that their meat would be poisonous to humans if eaten. I would therefore ask any abattoirs to be aware of this and carry out the proper checks on any lambs that they come into contact with in the next few weeks.
"Anyone with any information about this theft is asked to contact 04428 9065 0222 and ask for Dungannon Police Station. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 044800 555 111.”
For guidance, any media questions for this incident should be made to the PSNI Press Office on 04428 9070 0084.
