Renewed Witness Appeal - Fatal road traffic collision on the N4 South of Castlebaldwin, Sligo on the 13/8/15

Gardaí investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving a number of vehicles and a pedestrian on the N4 at Whitehill, approximately 3 kilometres South, (Dublin side), of Castlebaldwin, Co Sligo are renewing their appeal for witnesses.

The collision occurred on Thursday morning, 13th August 2015 at approximately 11.15am.

A male in his early 60’s was fatally injured when he was struck by a vehicle as he was working on the roadside. He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Sligo Regional Hospital. A male in his 50’s was also airlifted to University Collage Hospital Galway and two other males were taken to Sligo Regional Hospital with injuries described as non life threatening.
 

This stretch of road was closed for a period of time and technically examined.
 

Gardaí wish to renew their appeal for witnesses or anyone with information, particularly a motorcyclist and a female motorist who stopped and rendered assistance at the scene, to contact them at Ballymote Garda Station on 071 9189500, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Gardai in Ballymote are investigating a fatal road traffic collision involving three vehicles and a pedestrian on the N4 about one mile South of Castlebaldwin. The collision occurred  at approximately 11.40am this morning.

A male in his 60’s was fatally injured when he was struck by a vehicle as he was working on the roadside.  He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to Sligo Regional Hospital. A male in his 50’s was also airlifted to University Collage Hospital Galway and two other males were taken to Sligo Regional Hospital with injuries described as non life threatening.

This stretch of road is currently closed in order to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place. These diversions are expected to remain in force until later this evening.
