Further update - Hit and Run Collision, Phoenix Park, Dublin - Monday 6th April 2015

The 24 year old male who had been detained in relation to the fatal hit and run in Phoenix Park on the 6/04/15 was released without charge in the early hours of this morning.

A file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.

The 2 year old girl who was seriously injured following being struck by a car on the North Road, Phoenix Park yesterday evening was pronounced dead in the early hours of the morning.

The 24 year old male who was arrested remains in custody at Blanchardstown Garda Station. He is detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to contact Cabra Garda Station  on 01-6667400, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí at Cabra in Dublin are investigating a serious hit & run collision which occurred on the North Road, Phoenix Park at approximately 6.25pm this evening (6/4/15)
A 2 year old boy was struck by a car which failed to stop at the scene. The child was removed to the Children’s University Hospital, Temple Street in a serious condition.

A 24 year old man was arrested a short time later in relation to this incident and is currently detained at Cabra Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 – Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Investigations are continuing
