Gardai in Ballinasloe are investigating a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the Kilconnell Rd (R348) at Nutfield Cross outside Ballinasloe at approximately 8.35pm this evening.
A male in his 30’s was fatally injured when the car he was a passenger in was in collision with a second car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The female driver was taken to Portiuncula Hospital in Ballinasloe with injuries described as serious. The male and female occupants of the second car were also taken to Portiuncula Hospital with injuries described as not life threatening.
The scene of the collision is currently closed and is expected to remain closed until tomorrow morning in order to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place. Traffic is asked use alternative routes if possible when travelling to Ballinasloe.
