Drugs seizure County Louth 24th October 2014

As part of an ongoing operation targeting the illegal sale and supply of controlled drugs in the Louth Division, Gardaí from Ardee, Drogheda and Dundalk Districts, assisted by the Regional Response Unit, today, Friday 24th October 2014, carried out searches at number of premises in the area.

The searches resulted in the discovery of a grow house in Omeath and the seizure of cannabis plants, cannabis herb, cannabis resin, cocaine and tablets with a combined estimated value of €53,000, pending analysis.
 
Two men in their mid 20’s were arrested and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Drogheda and Dundalk Garda Stations. One man was released without charge and a file is being prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions. The other man was charged and released from Garda custody. He is due to appear before Dundalk District Court on a later date.
 
As part of the same operation a 40 year old woman was arrested in Drogheda this afternoon and charged. She later appeared before Drogheda District Court where she was convicted and fined in relation to brothel keeping.
