Man Arrested- Investigation into death of Michael Devoy, Bohernabreena, Tallaght, Dublin 24 on 18/1/14

Gardaí at Tallaght investigating the murder of Michael Devoy whose body was discovered at Foxhill, Bohernabreena, Tallaght, Dublin 24 on 18th January 2014 have arrested a man (early 20's) in relation to this investigation.

The man was arrested in the Dublin area this morning and is currently detained under the provisions of  section  30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended at Tallaght Garda Station.

On Saturday, 18th January 2014 at approximately 10.45pm a detective unit based at Tallaght Garda Station was on patrol in the Foxhill Road/B ohernabreena Road area of Tallaght. They saw a silver coloured car (possibly a hatchback) parked on Foxhill Road. Gardaí pulled over to check this car. Two men appeared at the back of the car and got in. It drove away at high speed and has not yet been located.

Gardaí returned to Foxhill Road where they discovered a man, believed to be in his 40’s, with obvious wounds to his upper body. The man later died from his injuries. The area was sealed off for a full technical examination and the Offices of the State Pathologist were notified.

 
This morning the Deputy State Pathologist Dr. Michael Curtis visited the scene and carried out a preliminary examination. The body of the deceased has been removed to Tallaght Hospital where a post-mortem will be carried out tomorrow morning. Investigating Gardaí await the results of the post-mortem to determine the nature and direction of this investigation.
 

Gardaí will not be naming the deceased at this stage until all family members have been informed. A Garda Family Liaison officer has been appointed and is currently liaising with the family of the deceased. An incident room has been set up at Tallaght Garda Station in order to investigate all circumstances surrounding this incident.
 

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have been in the area of the Foxhill Road /Bohernabreena Road on Saturday 18th between 10 pm and 11pm to contact them. They are also asking anyone who may have seen a silver coloured car in the area or any unusual activity to contact Gardaí at Tallaght on 01 6666000 the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
