Gardai in Cavan Town are investigating a serious assault on a male (21yrs) which occurred on the 23rd June 2014.
The male was found on the roadside at Creighan at approximately 2pm which is on the Ballinagh Road out of Cavan. He had serious injuries and was taken to Cavan Hospital for treatment, his condition is described as serious but stable. A male (19yrs) was arrested and detained at Cavan Garda station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
He was charged and will appear before Virginia District Court at 10.30am this morning the 24th June 2014.
Gardai are appealing for witnesses or anyone with information in particular anyone who may have been on the Ballinagh Road out of Cavan at Creighan between 1pm and 2pm on the 23rd June and saw any suspicious or unusual behaviour to contact them in Cavan on the 049 4368800, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
