Drug Seizure in Dungarvan, Waterford on the 2/6/14

As part of on-going intelligence-led operations targeting the sale and supply of controlled substances in the Dungarvan area.

An Garda Síochána have seized cannabis plants(subject to analysis) and arrested a man and woman.

Gardaí from  Dungarvan  searched a house at Kilnafrehan East, Dungarvan, on Monday 2nd June 2014.

During the course of the search  110 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of up to €250,000 (pending analysis) were discovered during the search. A 55 year old woman and a 54 year old man were arrested at the scene and are currently detained at Dungarvan Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 as amended.

These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
