Drug seizure Co. Kildare 2nd June 2014

As part of on-going intelligence-led operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Kildare area, An Garda Síochána have seized cannabis herb and arrested a male.

Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit assisted by Local Detective Units carried out a planned search of a house at Crossmorris, Co Kildare, yesterday, Monday 2nd June 2014.

40 KG of cannabis herb with an estimated street value of up to €800,000 (pending analysis) was discovered during the search.

 A 43-year-old male was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Newbridge Garda Station under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996.

These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
