Further Update - Body Discovered Co Clare quarry 7th July 2014

The body discovered has been formally identified as 41 year old Adrian Folan missing from Athlone since the 3rd July 2014.

Adrian Folans body has been removed from the scene and is presently at Limerick Regional Hospital where a post mortem is scheduled for this evening.                         
 

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses who may have seen anything unusual or suspicious in and around the quarry at Kilconnell, Liscannor, Co. Clare since the 3rd of July 2014 or to any member of the public who may be able to assist with the investigation into the disappearance of 41 year old Adrian Folan from Athlone on the 3rd July 2014, to contact the Incident Room at Ennistymon Garda Station on 065-7072180, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.

Gardaí have recovered the body of a man at a quarry close to Liscannor in Co. Clare, today 7th July 2014.

It is expected that the body will be removed later this afternoon to the Mid Western Regional Hospital in Limerick where a post mortem examination will be carried out by the State Pathogolist Professor Marie Cassidy. The body has not yet been formally identified. 
 

The area remains sealed off to facilitate a forensic examination of the scene.

Gardaí investigating the disappearance of Adrian Folan have sealed off an area close to a quarry near the Cliffs of Moher in Co. Clare. 

Garda Crime Scene Investigators are carrying out an examination in the area. We cannot confirm the discovery of a body at this stage of the investigation.
