Gardaí at Belmullet are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Tarmon, Blacksod, Co Mayo at approximately 5.40pm this evening (Wednesday July 9th 2014).
An 18 year old man suffered fatal injuries when the car he was driving left the road and collided with a wall. He was pronounced dead at the scene. A front seat male passenger (late teens) was airlifted to Mayo General Hospital where his injuries are described as non life threatening. No other persons involved.
The road is closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and is expected to reopen in the morning.
