Drug Seizure Roscommon 4th July 2014

As part of on-going intelligence-led operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs in the Roscommon area, An Garda Síochána have seized cannabis plants.

Gardaí from the Roscommon/Longford Divisional Drug Unit assisted by local uniformed officers conducted a planned search of a house in Fourmile House, Co. Roscommon on Friday 4th July 2014.

During the course of the search, 87 cannabis plants with an estimated street value of up to €70,000 (pending analysis) were discovered in the house.

A man aged 26 years was arrested at the scene and was later charged. He appeared before Sligo District Court on 5th Of July 2014, where he was remanded in custody and due to appear before Harristown Distict Court on 11th July 2014.

These operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks. Drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities. Drug seizures also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
