Appeal for Information - DART Derailment on the 8/7/14

Gardaí at Bray investigating the derailment of a DART train at approximately 11.15pm on the 8th July 2014 on the tracks between Bray and Greystones are seeking information.

A number of rocks were found on the railway track causing the train to derail. From initial investigations carried out by An Garda Síochána and Irish Rail it appears that rocks may have been dislodged by unknown persons. Investigating Gardaí are anxious to speak to any person who may have been walking on the Greystones/ Bray cliff walk between 8pm and 12 midnight on Tuesday evening the 8th July 2014 or any person who may have witnessed a group on individuals at the commencement of the cliff walk in Bray or the entrance to the cliff walk in Greystones.

 
The location of the incident itself is approximately 100 metres north of the exit from the first tunnel on the rail track from Greystones to Bray.
 

No persons were injured during this incident.
