Update - Drug seizure and arrests in Co. Donegal on the 21/1/14

Three females are due to appear before a sitting of Letterkenny District Court this morning (23/1/2014) charged in connection with the seizure of cannabis plants in Ballbofey on the 21st January 2014.

A male aged in his 30s remains in Garda custody. (He can be detained for up to 7-days)


Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €360,000 (pending analysis) were discovered, along with other items made and adapted for the growth and cultivation of cannabis, during a search at a premises on Navenny St., Ballybofey, on Tuesday evening (21/1/2014).The search was conducted by members of the Letterkenny Drugs Unit. A male, aged in his 30s, and three females (one in her 20s and two in their 50s) were arrested and detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Letterkenny Garda Station.

Gardai have seized a large quantity of cannabis plants and made four arrests as part of an ongoing investigation targeting cannabis cultivation in Co. Donegal.

Cannabis plants with an estimated street value of €360,000 (pending analysis) were discovered, along with other items made and adapted for the growth and cultivation of cannabis, during a search at a premises on Navenny St., Ballybofey, this evening (21/1/2014).The search was conducted by members of the Letterkenny Drugs Unit.


A male, aged in his 30s, and three females (two in their 20s and one 60s) were arrested. They are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996 at Letterkenny Garda Station.
