Court appearance - Fatal stabbing in Drogheda, Louth on the 1/1/14

A woman aged 40 years, will appear this afternoon Thursday 2nd January, 2014 at 4.30p.m. at the Criminal Courts of Justice, Court number 2.

She is charged in relation to the murder of Wayne McQuillan, 30 years, that occurred in the Rathmullen Park area, Drogheda, on 1st January 2014.

Gardaí at Drogheda are now investigating the murder of Wayne McQuillan, 30 years, of Marian Park, Drogheda, Co Louth, having considered the results of a post mortem which took place at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, this afternoon, 1st January 2014.

A 40 year old female remains in Garda custody at Drogheda Garda Station detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 having been arrested this morning at Rathmullen Park, Drogheda, in connection with this investigation.

Gardaí at Drogheda are investigating the circumstances surrounding an incident where a male, 30 years, was fatally injured as a result of being stabbed.

The incident occurred in the Rathmullen Park area, Drogheda, on 1st January 2014 at approximately 1.45am.

A female, 40 years, has been arrested in connection with the investigation and is currently detained at Drogheda Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

The injured party was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, where he was later pronounced dead. A post mortem is to be arranged.
