Update - Operation on Organised Crime in the Midlands on the 14/2/14

As part of the ongoing investigations into organised crime in the Midlands gardai from Tullamore Garda Station arrested two males yesterday.

Yesterday afternoon a male in his early 20’s was arrested in the Clara area of Co. Offaly and last night a male in his early 20’s was arrested in the Dublin area. A car was also seized as part of the Dublin arrest. 
 

Both are currently detained under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007, one in Birr and one in Tullamore Garda Stations. 
 

One male in his 20’s, who was arrested on the 14/02/14, remains in custody in Portlaoise Garda Station under the provisions of Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act 2007. He was one of three arrested made on the 14/02/14. The two females were released without charge on the 18/02/14.

As part of an ongoing operation to combat Organised Crime in the Offaly area, Gardai from Tullamore Garda Staion carried out planned searches on a number of houses earlier this morning the 14th February, 2014.

The searches were carried out in the areas of Clara and Tullamore. 


Three people were arrested (two females ranging in ages from late teens to 20 years and one male aged 23 years) during the operation and they are being detained under the provisions of Section 50 Criminal Justice Act 2007 as amended at Portlaoise, Tullamore and Birr Garda Stations.
