Man charged in connection with Christy Daly homicide investigation

Gardaí at Tullamore investigating the homicide of Christy Daly have this evening, the 20th February 2014, charged a man, 23 years, with an offence in connection with this investigation.

The man was arrested on Friday 14th February 2014 at Clara and was detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at Portlaoise Garda Station. He is due to appear before Portlaoise District Court in the morning, 21st February 2014 at 10.30am. 
 

Mr. Daly’s body was discovered at Kilbride, Clara, County Offaly on 7th January 2014.

Gardaí in Tullamore, Co Offaly investigating the discovery of the body of Christy Daly at Bog road, Kilbride, Clara, County Offaly, on the 7th January 2014 have upgraded their investigation to a murder enquiry. The Post mortem has finished and Gardaí will not be making the results public for operational reasons.

As part of an ongoing operation to combat Organised Crime in the Offaly area, Gardaí from Tullamore Garda Station carried out planned searches on a number of houses earlier this morning the 14th February, 2014. The searches were carried out in the areas of Clara and Tullamore. 

Three people were arrested (two females ranging in ages from late teens to 20 years and one male aged 23 years) during the operation and they are being detained under the provisions of Section 50 Criminal Justice Act 2007 as amended at Portlaoise, Tullamore and Birr Garda Stations.
