Arrest following a robbery in Drumcondra, Dublin on the 26/2/14

Gardai have arrested a male following an armed robbery at a convenience store on Botanic Avenue in Drumcondra this afternoon.

At approximately 4.30pm a lone male entered the store and threatened staff with what was described as a firearm.  He made good his escape with a sum of money in the direction of Drumcondra Road Lower.  He was pursued by a staff member for a time.  No one was injured during the robbery. 
 

A passing Gardai patrol, who were made aware of the incident, spotted the youth and gave chase on foot.  Following a lengthy foot chase the male, a juvenile, was arrested on Drumcondra Road and brought to Mountjoy Garda Station where he is currently detained under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended. 
 

A sum of money along with what is believed to be an imitation firearm (subject to technical examination) was recovered when the juvenile was arrested.
