As part of an ongoing investigation into the activities of dissident Republicans Gardai from Limerick carried out a search operation at Meelick Co. Clare on the 20th September 2013.
Gardai seized a large quantity of ammunition along with a number of firearms, explosive components and documentation were recovered during the search of a wooded area yesterday evening.
The Army EOD team were called and declared the area safe before a examination of the scene was carried out. The items seized have since been removed for forensic and technical examination.
No arrests have been made to date and the investigation is ongoing.
