Gardaí at Rochfortbridge, County Westmeath are investigating a single vehicle, fatal road traffic collision which occurred on the old N6 at Gaulstown, Rochfortbridge, Co. Westmeath, this evening, 16th September 2013 between 7.45pm and 8.00pm.
The fatally injured male, 36 years, was travelling on the old N6 between Rochfortbridge and Milltownpass when his motorcycle struck a fence and a stone pillar.
His body has been taken to Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore, where a full post mortem examination will take place.
The old N6 is currently close between Rochfortbridge & Milltownpass to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was on the old N6 between Rochfortbridge and Milltownpass between 7.30pm and 8.00pm, 16th September 2013, to contact them at Mullingar Garda Station on 044-9384000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111 or any Garda station.
