A male in his late 20’s who had been detained at Roscommon Garda Station in relation to yesterdays seizure of cannabis plants is scheduled to appear before Castlerea District Court this morning at 11.30am charged in connection with the seizure.

As part of an operation targeting the cultivation of cannabis in the Roscommon area Gardai from the Roscommon Divisional Drug unit conducted a planned search of a rural house in Athleague this morning.
During the course of the search cannabis plants with an estimated street value of up to €280,000 (pending analysis) were recovered in the house.
A male in his late 20’s was arrested at the scene and he is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Roscommon Garda Station.
