We are delighted to inform you, An Garda Síochána Boxing Club will be the proud hosts of the New York Police Department Boxing team between the 4th and 7thOctober 2013.
The focus of this visit will be the Garda V NYPD boxing event in the Welcome Inn Hotel Castlebar on Saturday 5th October. This is a long standing and prestigious fixture. The Garda team have been travelling to New York since 1986. Last year the Garda Team hosted the NYPD for the first time ever. That memorable occasion took place in front of 1,200 spectators in the Wright Venue, Swords, Co. Dublin. Our New York guests were overwhelmed by the enthusiastic welcome they received. We hope to surpass it this year in Castlebar.
This will be the first ever visit of the NYPD Boxing Team to the West of Ireland!
The 15 person NYPD Group are travelling this year as part of the "Gathering Celebrations.”
During the evening there will be an open raffle for High Valued Sporting Goods. All proceeds of this auction will go towards the "Jack and Jill Foundation” and add to the €150,000 raised by the Garda Boxing club in the past three years through the "Kops4kidz,” "Fighting for Ronan” and other local events.
Our latest production is certain to garner considerable interest among the media, boxing public and the America/Ireland business, political, social and sporting sphere.

On Saturday 7st September the will be a photo shoot to launch the "They’re Gathering” event. This photo shoot will be held between 1.30pm – 2.30 pm on the mall in front of Castlebar Garda Station. This event encompasses all that is good about Garda - Community interaction through sports and charity. I have attached the event poster and I assure you that this poster will be brought to life!
Local Boxing Hero, European Champion Ray Moylette and Our own Boxing Olympian, Garda Adam Nolan will be among the sporting stars in attendance for the photo shoot. Along with a selection of Garda vehicles AND a real NYPD Patrol vehicle among other attractions!
This launch will be the coming together of the Gardai and the community in support of sport, tourism and charity. In recognition of this AT 2PM Michael Ring TD Minister of State for Tourism and Sport will be among the dignitaries in attendance, to mark the formal Launch of the Garda V NYPD "They’re Gathering” Event. There will be an array of opportunities for family fun snaps and any press photographers looking for a unique shot.
