Update - Body of a female discovered in a house in Lixnaw, Kerry on the 27/11/13

Gardai in Listowel investigating the death of a female in a house at Lixnaw are now conducting a murder investigation following the completion of the post mortem.

The results of the post mortem have been furnished to the investigation team but are not being made public. We are not naming the deceased at this point. 
 

An 19 year male remains in custody in Listowel.

At approximately 11.15am on the 27th November 2013 Gardai in Listowel, Co Kerry received a call that the body of a female had been discovered in a house at Ballinageragh, Lixnaw, Co Kerry.

The female (early 50's) had received injuries to her body.  The female was pronounced dead at the scene.  The body remains at the scene.
 

The scene was sealed off and members of the Garda Forensic Bureau are enroute.  The office of the State Pathologist has also been  notified. 
 

A male 19yrs was arrested in Listowel a short time later and is being detained at Listowel Garda station under the provisions of section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.
