Fatal road traffic collision in Cork on the 31/10/13

Gardai in Anglesea Street are investigating a fatal road traffic collision that occurred at Georges Quay, Cork at approximately 9.30pm last night.

A male pedestrian in his 20’s was fatally injured when he was struck by a van on Georges Quay. The driver of the van failed to remain at the scene. The pedestrian was taken to Cork University Hospital but was later pronounced dead. 
 

The road was closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened. 
 

Gardai wish to appeal for witnesses to this collision and in particularly to the driver of what is described as a white  ‘Ford Transit’ type van, to contact them at Anglesea Street Garda Station on 021-4522000, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
