Attempted robbery and arrest at Collins Avenue, Dublin on the 19/11/13

Gardai have arrested a 40 year old male following an attempted robbery of the Post Office on Collins Avenue this afternoon.

At approximately 3.30pm a lone male entered the Post Office on Collins Avenue and demanded cash.  He was armed with what was described as a knife.  He left the scene empty handed in the direction of Swords Road.  A Garda unit responding to the call arrested the male a short distance away on Swords Road and recovered a knife. 
 

There was no one injured in the incident. 
 

The male is currently detained at Coolock Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
