Searches and arrests in Dublin, Meath and Carlow 2nd May 2013

Gardaí investigating burglaries carried out by travelling criminals in the Carlow/Kilkenny Division have this morning carried out searches and arrested nine (9) individuals.

Under the auspices of Operation Laidir (set up to target burglaries in the South-Eastern Region), and utilising a multi agency approach, Gardaí this morning carried out a number of searches in the Dublin and Carlow and Meath areas. Fourteen (14) residences in total were searched, which led to the arrest of seven (7) males and two (2) females along with the seizure of four (4) vehicles and other items. Those arrested range in age from juveniles to those in their mid 50s.

The searches were led by Gardaí from Kilkenny, Carlow and Thomastown, who were assisted by other Gardaí from the South Eastern Region and Meath Division and the Organised Crime Unit.

Those arrested are being detained in Carlow (3), Kilkenny (3), and Thomastown (3) Garda stations under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
