Gardaí have arrested one man and seized a firearm and ammunition as well as a quantity of drugs following a search of a house in Dublin yesterday.
The planned operation took place on the evening of May 5th 2013 at a house in Poppintree, Dublin 11.
During the course of the search Gardaí recovered a 9mm pistol, 8 rounds of ammunition and a quantity of cocaine. The drugs subject to analysis are believed to have a street value of €21,000.
A man aged 30 years was arrested at the scene and is detained under Section 30 of The Offences Against The State Act ,1939 at Ballymun Garda Station. He can be detained for up to 72 hours.
A forensic technical examination is under way at the premises and the operation is on-going.
