Fatal road traffic collision at Bagnalstown, Carlow on the 4/5/13

Gardaí and emergency services are at the scene of a fatal traffic collision which occurred at 3.30pm on the 4th May 2013 at Rathwade Cross, Bagnalstown, Co. Carlow.

The collision involved a car and a minibus. Two female occupants of the car, one believed to be in her 50s and the other believed to be in her 70s, were pronounced dead at the scene. Two children who were also in the car have been removed to St. Luke's Hospital in Kilkenny, their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

The male driver and female passenger of the bus, who are believed to be in their late 40s or early 50s, have also been removed to St. Luke’s Hospital. Their condition is not known.

The road in the area is closed to facilitate an examination at the scene by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
