Discovery of a body in Cork on the 13/5/13

Gardai in the Bridewell Garda Station, Cork investigating the discovery of the body of a male at City Garden Apartments, Northgate Street at approximately 5.30pm yesterday evening wish to appeal to the public for their assistance.

The post mortem has been completed and the results passed to the investigation team. For operation reasons the results are not being made available. 
 

As a result of enquiries to date and following the completion of the post mortem by the Deputy State Pathologist Dr. Bolster, Gardai are now satisfied the deceased was subject to an assault prior to his death. 
 

Although progress has been made in relation to the identification of the male Gardai are not in a position to formally identify him and wish to seek the assistance of the public. 
 

The male is described as being in his 60’s, of slight build, approximately 5’5’’ to 5’6’’ tall and with white/grey hair and moustache. He was wearing a beige fleece top, black t- shirt and beige trousers. 
 

In addition Gardai wish to appeal to anyone who may have seen a man fitting this description in the North Main Street/ Bachelors Quay or City Garden Apartment areas between last Saturday the 11th of May and last night the 13th of May at 5.30pm, to contact the incident room.
