Fraud investigation "Operation Nascar" - 13/3/13

As part of an ongoing investigation into suspected organised fraudulent motor insurance injury claims, Gardai in Anglesea Street arrested seven people (four females and three males) this morning, the 13th March 2013.

They are detained at various stations in the Midlands and Cork under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.


One male has been released without charge and the remaining six are still being questioned.


These seven arrests form part of the second stage of this investigation named Operation Nascar. Five people were arrested in Munster on the 6th February 2013. They were released without charge, pending a file to Director of Public Prosecutions.
