Gardai in Wicklow are investigating a shooting incident which occurred on the 3rd March 2013, at approximately 11.30pm on Bond Street, Wicklow Town.
A shot was fired through the front door of the house. No one was injured in the incident and the scene has been technically examined.
On the 4th March 2013 at approximately 12.10am Gardai from Traffic Dept. Dublin Castle, while conducting a speed checkpoint, attempted to stop a vehicle this vehicle failed to stop and a short pursuit ensued. Subsequently, the vehicle was stopped at Stillorgan Road, Dublin 4 and searched. A firearm and ammunition was found, assistance was given by Gardai from the Special Detective Unit, Harcourt Sq, two males (44yrs & 26yrs) were arrested, both suspects are currently detained under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act 1939, as amended, at Irishtown and Donnybrook Garda stations.
Investigations are continuing.
